I felt that the Wordpress clinic exercise was a very productive one! I could sense that most of the students were excited to be able to
get on with stuff and enjoying creating their websites. From both sessions I came away feeling excited that I had been part of a group of
people that were being creative and improving their skill sets which was immensely satisfying.
From some of the students I still felt a sense of frustration at not being able to move forward as fast as they wanted to and a lack of
drive to search for a solution on the web for themselves but instead expected a solution from one of us. I would like to encourage them to try
lots of different themes and plugins and to get a sense of the variety that is available with them and to find out what works for them.
I was impressed at the level of enthusiasm for the subject from most of the students and their ability to grasp Wordpress and web development
in general.
I got great experience in teaching what I know to other people. It took me out of my comfort zone as I was required to know the subject
being discussed and to come up with information quickly. I also enjoyed the challenge of encouraging different types of students to find
solutions to problems themselves and it was very satisfying when they were able to do this.
I would like to improve how I encourage students to learn for themselves as I think that this is one of the main things that the students
would benefit from as I think that there is a slight lack of patience and confidence from them that I would like to help them improve on.
I do not have the answer to this at the moment but with my current level of experience it would require me to try different things out and
test the results.
Thank you again for inviting me to do this. I very much enjoyed it and hope that the students got as much from it as I did!
